Ten years of honest words, and a queue down the street.
Menya Isshin is a ramen shop in Nomura, Seiyo — our own town. The food and the reputation were already there. What had never been shared was why the owner started, what goes into a bowl, and what the ten years had actually been like.
- ON THE DAY
- More than 100 groups queued
- SALES
- Highest in the shop’s history

CHALLENGE
The account announced things. It did not say anything.
Instagram was being used for opening hours, closures and the monthly special. Useful information, and it reached people — but it was not somewhere customers could learn who the owner was or where a bowl came from. For a shop already loved locally, the missing piece was not more promotion.
APPROACH
Not an announcement. A countdown you could join.
- 01 Looked back at ten years, together
Rather than announcing the anniversary, we made it a chance to go through the ten years with the customers who had been there for them.
- 02 Left the hard parts in
The periods that did not go well and the moments of doubt stayed in. Ten years told as one story, not a highlight reel.
- 03 Let the owner speak
He rarely comes out of the kitchen. Through his own words, what came across was gratitude towards the people who had kept the shop going.
- 04 Counted down to the day
A one-day-only bowl was planned for the anniversary. Instead of just announcing the finished dish, we posted the trial batches and the story as a countdown, so following along meant arriving at 11 July together.
RESULT
A queue from before opening, and a record day.
On the anniversary, more than 100 groups were already waiting when the doors opened. The queue continued into the evening, and the shop recorded its highest sales to date. Over roughly a month, followers increased by about 500.
The shop was already popular before any of this. What the campaign changed was not awareness but the relationship — the account became somewhere customers could reply.
